Popularity of cricket in nepal

Over the last few years ,cricket in nepal has flourished massively.One of the major reason without doubt is nepal reached the qualification tournament ICC T20 Worldcup held at Bangladesh in 2014 for the first time which was one of Biggest achievement in nepali cricket along with winning Platefinal of U-19 WC back in 2006 at colombo under the leadership of Kanishka Chaugai.

Eventhough Nepal didn’t advanced to Super10 but we had good outing as we managed to beat Afghanistan and Honkong.
Since then cricket has evolved more and more as one of most followed and watched sports in the nepal.Although people aren’t much familiar with all the rules of cricket which is quite understandable for the people of Associate country and also because there are lot of rules in cricket which sometimes even international cricketer mightnot have heard few of them.

Despite that cricket was all of sudden began topic of conversion everywhere and people started supporting Cricket passionately and keen to watch cricket anytime.Successful Initiation of Franchise based NPL(held in Dhandagi in 2014)  and EPL(held in Kathmandu in 2016) was much needed not only to uplift the cricketer’s economic life but also to promote Cricket nationally and to attract more people towards cricket.



the new cricketers got an opportunity to work with the experienced cricketers and improved the quality of their game. They got a chance to learn well and shaped well. EPL league provided immense employment opportunities such as the job of cricket columnist, umpires, costume designers for all teams, police guards to protect the players,etc. Local and less recognized player got a chance to showcase their talent on the world stage . while also giving others a hope to continue chasing their dreams. For those, who’d been hanging around for years in the domestic circuit, the league has provided an unmatched platform to make a mark.
